Twenty-five work packages released including call for businesses specialising in earthworks, concreting, fencing, construction, electrical services, cleaning, catering and transport services
Someva Renewables and Mainstream Renewable Power, the renewable energy companies investigating a proposed wind farm at Sunny Corner State Forest, are calling on local businesses to submit expressions of interest to participate in the development of the proposed Sunny Corner Wind Farm.
Twenty-five work packages have been released for the proposed wind farm via the online Industry Capability Network (ICN) Gateway portal with opportunities in earthworks, concreting, logistics, fencing, construction, electrical services and steelworks. Opportunities are also available for crane operators, shuttle bus companies, cleaners, catering companies and temporary accommodation site providers.
If approved and constructed, the Sunny Corner Wind Farm will generate approximately 500 megawatts (MW) of electricity supported by an advanced battery energy storage system. The wind farm, located approximately halfway between Lithgow and Bathurst, could generate enough electricity to power up to 300,000 homes with affordable, clean and reliable energy for 30 years.
If approved, construction on the Sunny Corner Wind Farm is expected to commence in 2028. Local businesses are encouraged to register their interest before the December 2026 deadline.
Someva Renewables Development Director Tim Mead said: “As an 100% Australian-owned business, Someva Renewables is committed to working with as many local suppliers and businesses as possible on the development of the Sunny Corner Wind Farm.”
“If approved, the Sunny Corner Wind Farm will deliver a significant economic boost to the region. The wind farm is expected to generate approximately 475 new jobs throughout construction and 35 full-time roles throughout operation. It is also expected to deliver significant flow-on economic activity that could benefit local suppliers, contractors, accommodation and hospitality providers,” said Mr Mead.
“While construction is not scheduled to begin until 2028, the expression of interest process is an important chance for us to gauge the level of interest from local businesses in participating in this important project. This in turn will assist us in developing a local procurement strategy aimed at supporting as many local jobs and businesses as possible should the proposed Sunny Corner Wind Farm be approved,” said Mr Mead.
